In 1950, Temple Fielding began the first of what would be a remarkable new series of well-written, highly personalized guide-books for independent travelers. Today, at 'Fielding’s Guide to Luxury Cruises' Temple’s philosophy of always telling the reader honestly but with style, verve and the occasional grumpy touch, is what drives our editorial philosophy. Author, Tim J Fielding has been cruising for over 27 years. His first experience at sea was on a small ship in the Fijian Islands. Since then Tim has cruised aboard ships from over a dozen cruise lines and writes exclusively on luxury cruise ships since launching this site in 2003. Tim enjoys a unique insight into the luxury cruise industry having befriended many offices and crew aboard the ships he sails. Having access to the 'human' side of the industry positions him to review ships in a way not seen in the mainstream media. Sharing the secrets with his discerning readers remains a passion. Tim's wife Anna is a key component to the guide from behind a camera.
In 2008 Tim formed an alliance with acclaimed cruise writer Ralph Grizzle to provide additional content. Ralph Grizzle has been on more than 100 cruises and writes the best cruise blog:

Each year, Fielding’s presents an award to the "World's best ship" . The "Fielding's SIX Star Ship Of The Year", recognizes the single most outstanding luxury vessel at sea. So far only two ships have won this prestigious award: 2004 & 2005 Crystal Serenity 2006 & 2007 Europa The Winner for 2008 will be announced in January 2009.
